About tvox

What it does

The core idea is straightforward: you write text, tvox speaks it. The voices run on Google's Cloud Text-to-Speech service, so the results are crisp and natural, not robotic. You can use it for anything from reading a poem aloud to prototyping a podcast segment or making an audio version of a blog post.

Every piece of audio you create is saved to your account. You can come back later, listen again, download the file, or share a public link with anyone.

Story Chains

Story Chains are the most interesting part. Instead of one person writing and recording everything, you start a short piece of text, someone else adds the next line, then someone adds another, and so on. Each contribution gets its own voice. tvox stitches them together into one continuous audio story you can play from beginning to end.

Think of it as a relay race where every runner speaks in their own voice. The result is a collaborative recording with its own rhythm and personality.

1. Start a new chain and write the opening line.
2. Choose a voice for your part.
3. Invite others to add their parts.
4. Listen to the whole chain as one flowing story.

What's coming next

The next thing on the roadmap is something called Scripts. The idea is that you create a cast of characters, give each one a voice and a role, and then build a scene line by line. It is a different way to play with the same tools: more structured than a story chain, but still open-ended enough to be fun.

Who makes tvox

tvox is a small personal project built by someone who wanted a clean, no-nonsense way to make spoken audio without wrestling with complicated software. It is intentionally simple. If it grows, it will grow carefully.
